Montana Rain brings together Sussex singer Nicola Rain and husband John (Bass) with barn dance folk duo Pete and Mannie McClelland, and lead guitarist Terry Bickers.

We specialise in American themed functions, and can customise our act to help you put together an event that all your guests will enjoy.

We offer Hoe Downs, Line Dances, Barn Dances, Square Dances (with a live caller to teach you the dances), Songs and Tunes in whatever combination suits your party best.

Our varied backgrounds in Indie, Rock and Folk merge with each band member's love of Americana to bring a fresh style to the band's music. The repertoire covers country standards to old time and bluegrass tunes, American folk songs, and modern day country and western favourites.

Terry Bickers is a member of 80's cult indie band House of Love and still tours worldwide, Pete and Mannie have played many folk festivals and leading arts venues with their folk bands Blackthorn and ThingumaJig, John and Nicola specialise in songwriting and also gig with ThingumaJig.

What do we do?

Our usual package includes a selection of dances to suit your party, most often a mix of square and line dances for anyone who wants to join in, with Country songs and traditional American music to accompany and entertain between the called dances. We can vary this to suit you, so just ask for exactly what you want and we'll do our best to provide it!

Montana Rain's repertoire covers a broad range of styles and genres, and includes music from Dolly Parton, The Eagles, Don Williams, Roger Miller, Johnny Cash, Joni Mitchell, The Mavericks, Lonestar, Tom Paxton, Nancy Griffith, Tammy Wynette, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Band, Glen Campbell, John Denver, Woody Guthrie, Van Morrison, Shania Twain, Roy Orbison, The Doors, Jimmy Hendrix, The Pogues and many more, as well as the odd bit of original material, and a good selection of traditional American tunes. We're always happy to learn something new, so if you have any particular requests, please ask!
